Chocolate peanuts, spicy peanuts, peanut butter, peanut energy bars, peanut smoothies and now….Roasted Peanuts with Wasabi Sea Salt.
These salty and spicy peanuts make a great protein snack, crunchy topping on top of a noodle dish and sprinkled on top of salads.
WASABI WASABI
I’ve used Wasabi in this recipe to add a touch of fire to these raw peanuts. Wasabi is a member of the Brassicaceae family, which includes cabbage, horseradish and mustard.
It grows in cool, shady mountain stream beds mainly in Japan, thriving between 46 and 70 degrees and can’t tolerate direct sunlight, which makes Wasabi hard to grow. As supply becomes scarce and demand increases this ingredient becomes quite expensive.
Because of this scarcity, most of the wasabi pastes and powders you find at the supermarket contain barely any real wasabi, if they have any at all. Instead, the flavor is created with a combination of horseradish, Chinese mustard, food coloring and other ingredients. So please check the ingredient list on the back of the packet before buying.
If the first ingredient isn’t wasabi or wasabi japonica, it’s not real wasabi. Specialty markets and fine dining establishments are likely to carry the real deal so talk to them. What we put in our bodies is super important to our overall health, so it’s always worth having a shop around in person or online.
WHEN YOU FIND THE GOOD STUFF, this is what you may get…
Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial support and potassium which enhances muscle strength, metabolism, water balance, electrolytic functions, and the nervous system.
As well as isothiocyanates (a family of organic compounds found in some herbs) are thought to alleviate symptoms in a number of disorders, including allergies, asthma, cancer, inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
The other ingredient in this recipe are peanuts. Common nuts you find in stores of all kind which help to fight depression, look after your skin, regulate your blood sugar levels, improve fertility and keep your bones healthy!
These roasted peanuts go really well on top of this Sweet Potato Kale Salad!
