There’s much to be said for cruciferous vegetables, especially Cauliflowers.
In case the words cruciferous vegetables aren’t ones you’ve come across yet, here’s a little bit about them…
These vegetables have become very popular in the health world as they are known to be good sources of phytonutrients, which are plant-based compounds that may help lower inflammation and help reduce the chance of cancer. Also being high in fiber means they help some people to loose weight as they keep you fuller for longer, and are rich in folate, vitamin C, E & K!
Cauliflower is just one member of the family. Others are…
- rocket
- bok choy
- broccoli
- brussels sprouts
- cabbage
- kale
- turnips
Here’s a few things cauliflower can support you with, just to name a few…⠀
- it contains choline which is essential for learning and memory
- rich in B vitamins to help breakdown your food into energy⠀
- high in fiber to help enhance weight loss and aid digestion ⠀
FUN FACT: Where did they get the name ‘cruciferous’ from?
As the blossoms of these plants resemble a cross, this family was named after the Latin word for crucifix. Makes sense!
